FAQ

The questions that come up before choosing a mattress

This page is for people who have not decided yet. Questions are grouped by what gets asked most, from size and firmness to warranty and care.

Size & Room

Settling the size first narrows the field fast. What is left after that is a matter of feel.

What mattress sizes are commonly used in Indonesia?

The most common are 90 x 200 cm (single), 100 x 200 and 120 x 200 cm (super single), 160 x 200 cm (queen), and 180 x 200 cm (king). Some models also come in 200 x 200 cm. Queen and king mean different things from brand to brand, so the safest reference is the centimetres, not the name.

Which size suits me?

One adult is comfortable from 90 x 200 cm and noticeably more so at 120 x 200 cm. Couples are better off starting at 160 x 200 cm; if one of you shifts position often, or a child joins now and then, 180 x 200 cm buys real room. For children and teenagers, 90 x 200 or 120 x 200 cm usually lasts through secondary school.

How much free space should the room keep?

Leave roughly 60 to 70 cm along any side you walk down, and about 90 cm where a door or drawer opens toward the bed. Measure the route in as well: door width, hallway, and stair turns. A spring mattress cannot be folded or rolled.

How tall is a Comforta mattress?

Comforta mattresses run from 21 to 39 cm depending on the model, and the figure is listed on every product page as Mattress Height. That number excludes the foundation. For easy getting in and out, mattress plus foundation should sit roughly level with your knee when you stand beside it.

Firmness

Plush, medium, and firm are not quality grades. They are a match for how you sleep, or they are not.

What do plush, medium, and firm mean?

Plush feels soft and lets the body settle deeper into the surface. Medium sits in between: soft on top but still holding you up. Firm feels dense, with the body resting more on the surface than sinking into it. The support core is equally strong in all three; what changes is the comfort layer above it.

Which firmness suits me?

The usual guide: side sleepers tend to do well on plush or medium because shoulders and hips need room to sink in; back sleepers usually land on medium; stomach sleepers and heavier bodies are generally more comfortable on firm so the lower back does not bow downward. If two of you disagree, medium is the safest meeting point.

With back pain, should I pick the hardest one?

Not necessarily. A back needs the spine kept straight, not the hardest possible surface. A mattress that is too firm leaves a gap under the lower back. Many people with back complaints are most comfortable on medium. For persistent pain, consult a medical professional.

Which firmness is most common at Comforta?

Most Comforta models are medium, with the rest split between plush and firm. You can filter the whole catalogue by firmness on the all products page.

Why does a new mattress feel different from the one in the store?

A new mattress needs a settling-in period, and your body needs time too after years on the old one. Give it a few weeks of normal use before judging. What it sits on matters as well: the same mattress feels denser on a rigid foundation.

Technology Terms

The names on the product pages, explained in plain language.

What is a pocket spring?

Pocket springs are coils individually wrapped in separate fabric pockets so each one moves on its own. Two effects follow: the body is supported point by point along its contours, and one person moving is far less noticeable on the other side.

What is 7-Zone Support?

The core is divided into zones with different support levels: the shoulder area gives way more, the lower back and hip area holds firmer. The point is to keep the spine straight whether you sleep on your side or your back.

What are Nanoshield, Memogel, and the other brand terms?

They are the names of technologies used in specific layers of a Comforta mattress. Some work in the surface fabric, some in the comfort layers, some in the edge structure. We take them apart one by one, ordered by where they sit inside the mattress.

Spring or latex?

Springs win on airflow and point-by-point support. Latex feels denser and springier at once, and absorbs movement well. Comforta makes both. The warranty differs too and is worth weighing: 12 years on spring mattresses, 5 years on latex.

Collections, Series & Models

Why there are so many names, and how to compare them.

How do Urban Living, Modern Living, Superfit, and Hospitality differ?

Urban Living is the collection distributed widely through partners and official dealers across cities. Modern Living is the exclusive collection carried in selected modern markets and department stores. Superfit by Comforta brings Comforta quality standards at a friendlier price range. Hospitality is built for hotels and lodgings that demand daily-use durability.

How do I compare two models?

Every series page carries a comparison table across the models in that series: spring type, firmness, mattress height, and the features included. To compare across series, use the filters on the all products page.

How do the series differ, say Comfort, Perfect, and Popular?

The difference is in the layer build and the features included. Comfort Series carries 7-point support with an anti virus and bacteria protection layer. Perfect Series concentrates support around the lower back. Popular Series is meant as a family first mattress and minimises motion transfer from a sleeping partner. Each series page explains its own build.

Which model suits a child or a guest room?

Multibed Series puts two mattresses in one foundation, handy for a child's room or overnight guests. For anything else, the all products page has recommendation filters.

Care

Small habits that carry a mattress through its warranty period.

Does the mattress need flipping?

Foam-topped spring mattresses are generally built one-sided, so do not flip them. What is recommended is rotating 180 degrees, head end becoming foot end, every three months during the first year so wear spreads evenly. Check the label on the mattress if in doubt.

Why is there a dip where I sleep?

Comfort layers compact to the shape of the body with use, and up to a point that is normal rather than a defect. Rotating the mattress regularly and not always sleeping in the same spot slows it down. If the dip becomes deep and bothersome, request an inspection through the warranty channel.

Can the mattress sit directly on the floor?

Better not. Without a foundation or a ventilated frame, damp air is trapped underneath and invites mould and odour. A foundation also holds the mattress in shape and makes getting in and out easier.

How do I clean the mattress?

Vacuum the surface regularly and use a mattress protector against liquids. Do not soak the mattress: liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. For light stains, wipe with a damp cloth and dry with a fan rather than in direct sunlight.
